Flower face

The roses in Alice in wonderland gave me an idea to make a face with petals as hair par page number 26 in my Large Dylusion Art Journal.
I started with gluing down some leftover pieces of book pages. Then I added some yellow and orange acrylic paint and I stencilled a bit with blue. That gave me a nice background to start with.

On the right hand side I drew a face with big petals around it. Not sure if it looks more like a flower or a lion, but I like it nevertheless. :) and on the left I stamped some flowers with Ranger archival ink in the colors Carnation Red and Plum. The flower stamps I used are from a stamp set: Lovely garden by Stampendous.
The face and the flowers are colored with Tombow markers and the white details are made with a Posca pen. For the outlines of the face I used a black Tombow Calligraphy pen.

I already started on the next page, and that one is heavily inspired by the Alice in Wonderland movies.
Be on the lookout for that one :)
Bye, MH

Grinning Cheshire

I love Alice in Wonderland.   As a kid I watched the cartoon series in French. (as I did most cartoons since it wasn't available on Dutch tv) But the new movies Alice in Wonderland (2010) and Alice through the looking glass (2016) are superb. I love a lot of the characters, but the Cheshire cat might be my favorite.

This page started with leftover pink and purple paints. When I got a pot of crackle paste delivered via post, the jar was broken, so I decided to use some immediately and put it on these pages. After I drew the Cheshire's cat face, I decided to write a little poem I came up with a couple years ago when I was helping my daughter with a school assignment.

Even after I bordered the page it still looked empty so I tried to draw some tree silhouettes with Tombow markers in different pink and purple colors. With the different colors I tried to make it look like some are far away and some closer by.

I already made a page with an Alice in Wonderland character once, even in this Art Journal. Page #10 I didn't make a blog post about it, but I did post some pictures on Instagram. I'm sure more characters will follow in the future :)

Valentine hair

With Valentine coming up fast I got inspired :)
I already had some pinks and purple acrylic paints on the pages. I just added a simple face and then some hair strands with a special effects paint brush called a multi-liner. I used Amsterdam Acrylic Turquoise Blue number 522.

The face is shaded with some Faber Castell Polychromos. Afterwards I die cut a bunch of different hearts from pink en red colored design paper. I glued them down and added some glitter pen outlines on all the hearts. To finish everything off I added a black and white border with some pink glitter pen details.

Lastpage Clown

The very last page of my Large Dylusions Creative Journal! Now, I need to decide what to do with the  cover.   As mentioned in a previous ...
