Truffels?

No, no mushrooms but another movie page. This time I really wanted to make some trees, Truffula trees! And of course that comes with a Lorax and a Onceler.

For the background I started with structure paste through a stencil with circles in the upper left and bottom right corner. Followed with spraying blue and green inks. Then I used blue and green acrylic through a stencil of circle outlines and dots.

The raised circles were the base for the trees. I painted them in all different colors with acrylic and used a lighter and darker version.  The trunks are drawn with a black tombow caligraphy pen and white posca pen.

As with all the latest pages I colored the Lorax and Onceler with Copics. And a simple black vorder finishes it of.

Queen of hearts

After making a Time bunny (Page 10) (this one was before I started the blog :), Grinning Cheshire (page 25), Mushies with Absolom, Falling Alice (page 30) and Cuckoo Hatter (Page34) I thought it was time for another favorite from Alice in Wonderland the majestic Queen of Hearts.

The Queen herself is drawn on 120gsm Color Copy paper and colored with Copics.  I added some details with polychromos and gelly roll pens.

For the background I took some inspiration of my favorite page in this journal so far, Pierrot Girl. The face on that page is maybe not the best, but I love the background. So I decided to make a square tiled background with hearts. For the colors I used similar colors to the dress of the Queen.

So I started with coloring the whole page in light oker acrylics. Then I added some stamping of roses and hearts with Archival Ink in red and Plum. Then I  added a darker oker in some squares and even some gold stencilling. The other squares I colored with different blues and added some white stencilling.

On the borders of the squares I added some gold or blue metallic gelly roll . I also added a pink stamped piggie and a drawn Cheshire Cat as a surprise find :)

Travel door

a couple of months ago I read a book Exit West by Mohsin Hamid, a story about a couple fleeing their country through a door that brings them to another part of the world.

When I saw a page in my big dylusion journal where I had already stencilled some bricks on I was inspired to make page with a lot of faces coming though a door.

I didn't like the background at first but after a couple of layers of stencilling and adding a green border I'm ok with it.

If I remember correctly the first layer was actually a blue acrylic though a brick stencil, but I didn't like it so I added a white wash through a chevron stencil. then I used the original brick  stencil but with a pink acrylic and some white. Around some of the bricks I Highlighted with metallic gel pens in purple and blue. The last stencilling layer was the grey spiraling thingies. They made the whole less flat. In the middle I added a door/portal where the faces are coming out. The background is finished with a green border to tie in with the faces' green eyes.

All the faces are colored with copics finished some Polychromos details. I really enjoyed making those :)
